The document number and date, the effective date and expiration date (the last date for presenting documents), the issuing bank name, address, and SWIFT/BIC code, the advising bank and confirming bank names, and the applicant (buyer or importer) and beneficiary (seller or exporter) with their addresses.
The total amount available and its currency, the type (revocable, irrevocable, or confirmed), the incoterms, the port of loading and port of discharge, the latest shipment date, the payment terms, and the reference to the underlying purchase order or commercial contract.
The documents required come back as an array (such as the commercial invoice, bill of lading, and insurance certificate), and a line items table (sequence, description, quantity, unit, unit price, total price), a charges table (charge type, amount, currency, borne by), and a conditions table (condition number, condition text, condition type, whether it is waivable) each come back.
The governing law, liability cap, insurance requirement, anti-assignment restriction, renewal term, and the charges-absorb type (who bears the bank charges) are read as fields. The field set is grounded in the CUAD clause taxonomy, so the letter of credit terms map to the same fields as other contracts. The tool reports the clauses present; it does not give legal advice.
PDF only, up to 10MB and 100 pages. The letter of credit is processed via the Talonic API for extraction, is not retained for training, and is not shared.
The tool reads a single document. The platform reads the whole estate once and keeps it queryable — the same engine, with a memory.
See document data extraction if you run this for legal and commercial teams, or the extraction API if you are building it in.
