Questions about Individual Tax Return Extractor.

Which 1040 lines does the extractor read?

The ones that matter for review and intake: total income, adjusted gross income (line 11), standard deduction (line 12), taxable income (line 15), total tax (line 24), federal withholding (line 25), total payments (line 33), refund (line 34), and amount owed (line 37), along with tax year, filing status, and the taxpayer name and address.

Does it also handle W-2s and 1099s?

Yes. W-2 boxes 1 through 6 (wages, withholding, social security and Medicare amounts), box 12 codes, employer name and EIN, and 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC amounts such as nonemployee compensation, rents, and royalties are all in the schema.

Are dependents extracted?

The dependents table returns each dependent name, SSN, relationship, and months lived with the taxpayer, alongside a dependent count field.

Is it safe to upload a return with an SSN on it?

The return is processed via the Talonic API solely to extract the fields, is not retained for training, and is not shared. If you prefer, redact SSNs first; the remaining fields still extract normally.

What are the upload limits?

One PDF at a time, up to 10MB and 100 pages.

Which export formats are supported?

CSV, XLSX, and JSON, with tables like W-2 forms and income sources exported per row.

Doing this to one file, or to ten thousand?

The tool reads a single document. The platform reads the whole estate once and keeps it queryable — the same engine, with a memory.

See document data extraction if you run this for risk and compliance teams, or the extraction API if you are building it in.
