Questions about Trade Letter of Credit Extractor.

What does the trade letter of credit extractor read?

The L/C number and issue date, the expiration date (last date for presenting documents), the buyer (applicant or importer) and supplier (beneficiary or exporter) with their addresses, the issuing bank name, BIC/SWIFT, and IBAN, the advising bank name, the total amount and currency, and the credit type (enum, such as irrevocable or confirmed).

How is this different from the contractual (standby) letter of credit extractor?

This tool reads the documentary letter of credit used to pay for international trade: it captures the issuing and advising banks, the required documents, the ports, the latest shipment date, and UCP 600 governing law. The contractual letter of credit extractor reads the standby or contractual L/C, whose terms are grounded in the CUAD clause taxonomy. Use that one for a standby credit that backs a contract obligation.

Which shipment and document fields come out?

The port of loading and port of discharge, the latest shipment date, the incoterms, the payment terms (sight, usance, or deferred), the required documents (array), the special conditions (array), and whether insurance, partial shipment, and transhipment are allowed (booleans) each come back as fields.

Are the line items, charges, and document checklist returned as tables?

Yes. A line items table returns each line number, description, quantity, unit, unit price, line total, and HS code; a charges table returns each charge type, amount, currency, and payer; a documents checklist table returns each document type, issuer, quantity, and special requirements; and a payment details table returns the beneficiary bank account, BIC, and IBAN.

What are the file limits and privacy terms?

PDF only, up to 10MB and 100 pages. The letter of credit is processed via the Talonic API for extraction only, is not retained for training, and is not shared.

Doing this to one file, or to ten thousand?

The tool reads a single document. The platform reads the whole estate once and keeps it queryable — the same engine, with a memory.

See PDF to Markdown if you run this for data and platform teams, or the extraction API if you are building it in.
